Aaron’s Stump Grinding and Excavations is a family business founded in 2019, based in Maitland, and servicing Newcastle, Port Stephens and the rest of the Hunter Valley.

We specialise in stump grinding. We have the right equipment and expertise to remove any stumps, including from big or old trees, and in hard to reach places.

We can also prep, supply, and lay turf; dig trenches; dig post holes for fencing or retaining walls, and clear sites.

What is stump grinding?

When you have a tree removed, it’s generally a good idea to remove the stump, as stumps can encourage pests, they can be tripping hazards, they’re tricky to mow and garden around and they’re not usually the prettiest things to look at.

Stump grinding involves a trained operator expertly using specialist equipment with an incredibly sharp, powerful blade over the stump, essentially shredding the wood of the stump down into fine wood chips.  This takes the stump down to below ground level, and makes the soil ready to be replanted or used for some other purpose.

Our equipment

The Bandit SG40 @ 38hp is large enough to deal with the biggest hard wood stumps we can throw at it. With a maximum cutting depth of 300mm it will remove most stumps in their entirety or be deep enough to allow replanting. 

The SG40 is track driven machine so it minimises ground disturbance and is friendly on turf and driveways, and out performs any other machine in its class. At a mere 800kg in weight and 72cm in width it can access most back yards with ease.
